Pulse is a recurring column where we ask for readers’ takes on varying topics in a weekly survey and report back with our findings.
If you’re feeling anxious and stressed out, it’s no surprise. Between a slower-than-usual market, political and economic upheaval, and the normal spring market-fueled pressures, our current world seems primed to generate a stress response. Add to that the mental and emotional impact of online doomscrolling and a nagging sense of uncertainty generated by the rise of AI, and it’s totally understandable that you might not be feeling your best these days.

Since April is Stress Awareness Month, we want you to sound off: Where’s your stress coming from these days? Is it more personal or professional? Are there aspects that are within your control, or does everything seem to be out of your hands? How are you handling your stress, and are your standard coping mechanisms still working?
In short, we asked you to tell us your biggest stressor and your best stressbuster. Here are your responses:
- Starting a brokerage and starting a family
- Work
- Who has time for personal with all the BS of the past two years in the industry, and Reffkin and Inman keep fueling it
- PG&E and all the utilities that are raising their rates, homeowner’s insurance
Editor’s note: These responses were given anonymously and, therefore, are not attributed to anyone specifically. Responses were also edited for grammar and clarity. Inman doesn’t endorse any specific method and regulations may vary from state to state.
